What is the total land area available for lease, and how is it divided?
The total land area available for lease is 2,000 acres (800 hectares). The land is divided into slots of 12.5 acres each, which can be leased individually or in multiples depending on your needs
What is the lease term, and is it renewable?
The lease term is 5 years, with an option for renewal upon expiration. Renewal terms and conditions will be discussed prior to the end of the lease period.
What is the cost of leasing the farmland?
The lease rate is #125,000 per 12.5-acre slot per annum. Additionally, there are one-off payments that are single payments which are not part of regular payment schedulefor demarcation/survey and developmental fees, which vary based on the number of slots leased:
Demarcation/Survey Fees:
- 1 slot = #400,000
- 2 slots = #750,000
- 3 slots = #1,000,000
- 4 slots = #1,200,000
Developmental Fees:
- 1 slot = #600,000
- 2 slots = #1,000,000
- 3 slots = #1,300,000

What happens after payment is made?
After payment, the following steps will be taken:
Allocation of farm plot: You will be allocated a farm plot within the Funaab Alumni Farm Hub.
Plot demarcation: Your plot will be demarcated, and you will receive a survey report.
Access to amenities: You will have access to amenities such as proper road networks and effective security.
Farm management support: The Alumni Association will provide farm management support, including training and advisory services.
Will the Alumni Association manage the farm on behalf of each lease?
No, the Alumni Association will not manage the farm on behalf of any lessee. However, the Association will provide:
Farm management support and advisory services.
Training and capacity-building programs.
Access to markets and other value-chain services.
Linkage as referrer to experts among FUNAAB Alumni members as the case may be.
Note: We are working on a template to assist diaspora settlers/investors in managing their farmland, but this is not yet available.
Are there buy-back programs for farm products?
Yes, we offer farm product buy-back programs to ensure a ready market for your produce. This guarantees a return on investment and reduces market risks.
What financial support is available for lessees?
We provide soft credit facilities to support lessees in financing their agricultural projects. These facilities are designed to help you kickstart or expand your operations with favorable terms.
What security measures are in place on the farmland?
The farmland is secured by a proactive 24-hour security network managed by adequately armed NSCDS (Agro Rangers) personnel. This ensures the safety of your investments, equipment, and operations.
Can I lease multiple slots, and are there discounts for bulk leasing?
Yes, you can lease multiple slots of 12.5 acres each. Discounts are available for bulk leasing, as reflected in the reduced demarcation/survey and developmental fees for multiple slots.
Are amenities like water, electricity, etc., part of the lease agreement?
Yes, access to amenities such as:
Water (future provision).
Electricity (future provision).
Roads.
Security.
are part of the lease agreement. The Alumni Association will ensure these amenities are available to all lessees.
What activities can be carried out on the farms?
The following activities are permitted:
Crop production (e.g., maize, cassava, vegetables).
Livestock production (e.g., poultry, cattle, goats).
Aquaculture (e.g., fish farming).
Agroforestry.
Other agricultural-related activities approved by the Alumni Association.
Leasees are expected to comply with all relevant laws and regulations, as well as the rules of the FUNAAB Alumni Farm Hub.
What are demarcation/survey fees?
A demarcation/survey fee is a one-off payment made by farm allottees to cover the costs of surveying and demarcating their slots. The fee is used for:
- Conduct of site survey to establish slot boundaries.
- Demarcation of slots with physical markers (e.g., beacons and pillars).
- Provision of survey report and slot allocation documents.
Benefits: Accurate demarcation ensures each slot owner knows their boundaries, preventing disputes and enabling efficient land use.
What are developmental levies?
A developmental levy is a payment made by farm allottees to contribute to the overall development and infrastructure of the farm hub. The levy will be used to fund projects such as:
- Opening up road networks for direct access to slots.
- Developing security infrastructure (e.g., fencing, gates).
- Future infrastructure improvements (e.g., electricity pole installation).
Benefits: The levy creates a conducive environment for farming and business activities, enhancing the overall value of the farm hub.
What infrastructure and facilities are available on the farmland?
The farmland boasts:
A dam with 7 billion cubic liters of water capacity for irrigation and other uses.
A 3MW solar hybrid power plant with 6,300 solar panels and backup generators.
A processing plant for farm products.
An up-to-date plant/animal diagnostics Centre.
Farm machinery and implements for large-scale operations.
24-hour security provided by adequately armed NSCDS personnel.
